Configuring your TriDef software to work with your 3-D Display from the full list of supported TriDef Displays involves setting the Manufacturer and Model in the TriDef Control Panel. Connecting and configuring your 3-D Display is usually a simple matter. However, some modes have special conditions and requirements. These are discussed below.
Important: Product CompatibilityPlease Note: The modes specified on this page are only compatible with the following TriDef software:
Selecting this mode for other TriDef products will not produce the correct 3-D effect or result in one of the following error messages: The selected 3-D Display is not supported by this version of <TriDef Product Name> The TriDef licenses on this machine do not allow playback on the selected 3-D Display
Page-Flipped (OpenGL Stereo, Quad Buffered Frame-Sequential)Various 3-D display systems may require "Page Flipped" stereoscopic output. These systems generally incorporate LCD shutter glasses, head-mounted displays, or a Z-screen. If the manufacturer's documentation mentions "Page Flipping", "OpenGL Stereo", "Quad Buffered" or "Frame Sequential" as requirements, then use this mode. To select these modes, open the TriDef Control Panel, set the Manufacturer to "(standard display types)" and the Model to "Page-Flipped (OpenGL Stereo)". Please Note: Your Graphics Card MUST support these modes to work correctly. nVIDIA Quadro graphics cards support Page-Flipped (OpenGL Stereo).
Dual ProjectionSome 3-D display systems require separate outputs for the left and right views. This is usually the case when dual projectors are used with passive glasses. For an nVIDIA graphics card, set the "nView Display Mode" to "Dualview". Open the TriDef Control Panel and set the Manufacturer to "(standard display types)" and the Model to "Dual Projection". Depending on the way a dual projection system is arranged, you may need to use "Dual Projection (Reverse)" instead. To determine which of these modes to use:
Dual Projection (nVIDIA Quadro cards)An alternative dual projection setup is available when using an nVIDIA Quadro card. Under "nView Display Settings", set the "nView Display Mode" to Clone. Under "Performance & Quality Settings" (View: Advanced Settings) ensure that the "Stereo display mode" is set to "Use nView Clone mode" Open the TriDef Control Panel and set the Manufacturer to "(standard display types)" and the Model to "Page-Flipped (OpenGL Stereo)". With this setup, your Windows desktop will be cloned on both displays, and is therefore usually preferred over the Dualview, Dual Projection approach.
Side By SideThere are two Side By Side display modes:
These display modes allow the viewing of 3-D without glasses on standard 2D displays. The images intended for the left and right eyes are placed side by side. To see the 3-D effect the viewer must cross their eyes for "Side By Side (Cross-Eye)" mode or diverge their eyes (stare into the distance) for "Side By Side (Parallel)" mode. If the window is too large, the viewer may not physically be able to cross or diverge their eyes enough to see the 3-D effect. In this case, the window should be reduced in size, or the viewer should move further away from the sreen. These modes may also be useful for 3-D Displays that accept a side by side input mode (eg, DTI displays). Supported 3-D DisplaysThe following tables describes the 3-D displays supported by TriDef software. More detailed display configuration instructions are available for the following display types:
